Business Development Representative

Job Details

As a Business Development Representative, you will work side by side with our Producer Development Team to identify new distribution sources.  This will be accomplished through prospecting and qualifying new production sources utilizing personal visits and all other means of contact; maintaining and growing existing production sources; providing sales support including customer education, product information, and marketing; participating in trade shows and conferences; and promptly responding to customer needs and concerns.  You will also be responsible for evaluating risk characteristics of submissions/prospects to determine business opportunities.  This includes tracking progress towards productions goals, recommend product enhancements, and assist with the identification and development of marketing tools and promotions to facilitate agency production. 

 

Location:  Mid-Atlantic Region/Baltimore/DC Area 

 

Education:  College degree in business including finance, marketing, accounting or equivalent experience strongly preferred.

 

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably with professional liability products. Marketing and or sales experience preferred.  Excellent Presentation skills required.

 

Skills/Abilities: To be successful, you must have the initiative and desire to succeed.   You must be comfortable talking with people and go after the “close”.  It is also important that you are efficient in oral and written communication, time management and want to excel in your career.  Ability to travel 40%-50% is essential.  In addition, ability to work independently is critical to job performance.
